Your first visit

Congratulations on your pregnancy and thank you for choosing me for your antenatal care and confinement. My role is to help you achieve your birth aims and to also ensure that you and your baby are delivered in the safest possible way.

Your initial antenatal visit will take place at around 10 weeks and is a one-hour consultation. Subsequent visits are 20 minutes long. Partners and support people are welcome to accompany you to these visits. If you have questions, it may be helpful to write them down and discuss them at the consultation.

I will see you at 4 – 6 weekly intervals up to 28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 30 weeks and weekly from 36 weeks. Further tests are arranged at visits during the pregnancy, which we will discuss at the time.

For your first visit please bring your:

• The referral from your GP
• List of medications
• Any blood tests or ultrasounds
