Obstetrics
Congratulations on your pregnancy and thank you for choosing me for your obstetric care and confinement. As a specialist obstetrician, I provide care for both low and high-risk pregnancies.
I restrict the number of deliveries per month to ensure quality care for my patients, continue my commitment to the public hospital sector and to spend time with my little one. I provide obstetric care and deliveries at the Prince of Wales Private Hospital.
I consider it a privilege to be involved in your pregnancy care. Thank you for considering placing your trust in me.
My services include:
- Preconception assessment and advice
- Antenatal care
- Delivery: vaginal, caesarean, VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean)
- Management of preterm labour
- Screening for and managing high-risk pregnancies e.g. gestational diabetes, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, twins or more!
- Pre-existing medical problems
- Previous pregnancy or delivery complications
- Having a baby over 40 (that was me!)
Your birthing team is an important part of your pregnancy journey and I look forward to getting to know you and your partner/family.
I work with a small group of four other female obstetricians to provide 24 hours on call care whenever you need to go to hospital.
While I deliver the majority of my patients, it is sometimes one of these wonderful obstetricians who may be on duty at the time of your arrival to hospital. These obstetricians are Dr Dhara Lette, Dr Sarah Clements, Dr Siobhan Lee and Dr Louise Fay.
My role is to ensure that you have the information you need about your birthing options and to provide calm, compassionate and excellent antenatal care in order to help you achieve your birth aims.
Your First Visit
I recommend that you ring to make your first appointment as soon as you have had your dating scan which is usually done at seven weeks. Your initial antenatal visit will take place at around 10 – 11 weeks and is a one-hour consultation.
Subsequent visits are 20 minutes long. Partners and support people are welcome to accompany you to these visits. If you have questions, it may be helpful to write them down and discuss them at the consultation.
I will see you at 4 – 6 weekly intervals up to 28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 30 weeks and weekly from 36 weeks. Further tests are arranged at visits during the pregnancy, which we will discuss at the time.
For your first visit please bring your:
- The referral from your GP
- List of medications
- Any blood tests or ultrasounds
I look forward to meeting you. Please ring my Office Manager, Michelle, on 0437 052 098 to make an appointment.
